The Association of 40th Infantry Division Korean War Veterans was formed on September 19,1992 by four former members of the 40th Division who served together, on Heartbreak Ridge, with " CHOP-EM UP " CHARLIE Company,160th Inf.Reg.,during the winter of 1952-1953.
To organize into a group those former members of the 40th Infantry Division who served with the Division from June 25,1950 until the Division left Korea.The 40th Infantry Division Korean War Veterans were not elegible for membership in The 40th Infantry Division Alumnae Association. It was for World War II Division Veterans only. Every other US Division that fought in Korea accepted it's Korean Veterans into their Associations.
To re-establish and thenceforth maintain contact with those Republic of Korea soldiers (KATUSA ) who served with the Division during the above time period.
To gather from it's members information of historical significance relating to the activities of the Division during the Korean War.
MEMBERSHIP IS OF TWO TYPES,ACTIVE AND HONORARY.ONLY THOSE PERSONS WHO SERVED WITH THE DIVISION FROM JUNE 25,1950 UNTIL THE DIVISION LEFT KOREA ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP.ANY OTHER PERSON IS ELIGIBLE FOR HONORARY MEMBERSHIP.REPUBLIC OF KOREA SOLDIERS (KATUSA) WHO SERVED WITH THE DIVISION ANY TIME WITHIN THE ABOVE DATES ARE ELEGIBLE FOR ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AND ARE EXEMPT FROM THE PAYMENT OF DUES.
ONLY ACTIVE MEMBERS HAVE VOTING RIGHTS.HONORARY MEMBERS WILL RECEIVE FULL VOTING RIGHTS ON JULY 27,2003.DUES ARE $ 10.00 ANNUALLY.
A ROSTER OF MEMBERS AND SEMI-ANNUAL NEWSLETTERS ARE SENT OUT IN JUNE AND DECEMBER. SPECIAL MAILINGS ARE SENT OUT WHEN NECESSARY.
EACH MEMBER IS ASKED TO CONTACT FORMER BUDDIES HE SERVED WITH AND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THE ASSOCIATION.
THE ASSOCIATION HAS A CONTACT PERSON IN SEOUL WHO IS THE SECRETARY'S COUNTERPART IN KOREA.HE IS MAKING AN ACTIVE SEARCH FOR FORMER KATUSA'S.
IF YOU HAVE SERIAL NUMBERS OF FORMER KATUSA SOLDIERS PLEASE MAIL THEM TO THE SECRETARY WITH THE KATUSA'S NAME.AN ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE TO LOCATE HIM OR THEM.
