B 2001 ANNUAL OVERVIEW

The South Lorain Community Development Corporation (SLCDC) is a non-profit Section 501(c) 3 neighborhood development organization with its offices located at 2835 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. The 2001 calendar year was one for the most successful years in the history of the South Lorain Community Development Corporation. Over the course of the year, the South Lorain CDC was responsible for over $4.3 million in construction creating over 65 housing opportunities in the neighborhood. Also during the year, the South Lorain CDC hired the second executive director in the history of the organization. Some of the highlights of the last year include the near completion of the $5.8 million Southern Heights low income housing tax credit project, the completion of one home and sale of two homes completed in prior years. We also conducted another successful Pride Day and continued to offer free income tax service at our office building. Overall, over 400 citizens of South Lorain directly benefited by the activities of the South Lorain CDC.

The strategic plan for the South Lorain CDC enacted in 1997 calls for progress in three areas. Since the inception of the plan, the South Lorain CDC directors and staff have actively made progress in these three areas of:
