Northern Ohio Parents for Equality

History:

Northern Ohio Parents for Equality (NOPE) was started by a group of concerned parents who have recognized that there is not much local support available to non-custodial parents. This group was inspired by F.R.E.E ™ (Fathers Rights and Equality Exchange), an international Men's rights organization, and is in fact affiliated with this organization.

Goals: The goals of NOPE are to provide a conduit for concerned adults to join together to right the grievous wrongs that are commonly dealt to non-custodial parents and thus their children by our "system" today. The following is a list of objectives that we hope to reach, but is by no means restricted from new ideas brought up and accepted by the majority of the membership:
  1. To build a database of experiences
  2. Provide support for people in need
  3. Provide referrals for professionals, such as attorneys and counselors
  4. To work with county agencies in addressing related issues
  5. To collect statistics for publishing
  6. To work with legislators to change our laws to benefit children
  7. To work together to change the image of the non-custodial parent
Who can join: Anyone who is interested in working together as a group toward the above objectives regardless of gender or custody situation. Anyone in need of assistance is welcome to contact us and we will use our resources to help, they need not join the organization.

Financial Status: At this time we have not established a membership dues amount. There will be a certain amount of overhead for this group to operate, so dues will eventually be requested. Any individual or organization that wishes to make a donation to our cause is greatly appreciated. We feel that our cause is a very worth while endeavor and we hope that others will agree and contact us about making contributions.
