New York to Ohio
(Return to the sailing adventures of La Boatique)
Lady Liberty seems to be watching over New York City.
My sister, Carol, joined us in early May. She took Amtrak from Elyria, Ohio to Albany, New York. We had an easy walk from the Albany train station to the Albany Yacht Club where Haven waited for us.
I saw the tug start to lean over and I said to Pete, "it looks like the tugboat is going to tip over." We were looking at a very strange site; the tugboat was tipped way over and now nearly laying on its side. Pete said that they are in trouble. The tugboat had run aground.
Carol rides the bike along the Erie Canal while Pete steers Haven under the low bridge.
Haven goes over the waterfall!
A bike path runs most of the way along the canal. Pete took this picture from Haven while Carol and I got some great excercise.
Haven enters Lock 9 in the Erie Canal.
Carol and I at the Big Apple.
We saw these two navy boats traveling the Erie Canal. The men aboard were armed and looked to be ready for some kind of attack. We certainly did not expect to see the navy along these quiet waters hundreds of miles by water from the sea.
