(Return to the sailing adventures of La Boatique)
Fishing boat, Cabo San Francisco, Venezuela, October 2000
Pete paddles over to the boat Dream Maker to help resolve another diesel engine problem. The skyline of Margarita is in the background. (October 18, 2000)
Sue enjoys the calm ride. The pouch around her waste is a life jacket. We always wear life jackets when the boat is moving. The spinnaker sail is up for the first time since Lake Erie.
We rescued this boat. The crew is in the engine room . But the engine won't start even with our battery. Water in the boat is over 2 feet deep.
Maritime Express seems suspended. The dark patches in the water are beds of sea grass. Tortuga, Venezuela
In Venezuela the fishermen had tough lives and lived in huts like this without walls.
Darkness was almost upon us when these pink flamingos arrived to join us at the island of Sarqui in the Roques Islands of Venezuela. The picture would have been much better if they would have arrived a little sooner when there was more light.
In Venezuela we often saw a single cross on top of a pile of coral at the waters edge. We believe that the crosses we saw mark graves. In the background behind the cross pictured here was part of an old fishing boat.
At Cayo De Agua there are a lot of coral reefs. (Argonauta, La Boatique, some other boat and Maritime Express)
No humans lived on Cayo De Agua. This heron had a beautiful home.
We used our orange spinnaker and mizzen sails to get to the Aves Islands. To sail to Bonaire we only used the spinnaker.
