Colleen and John from Bow Bells joined us for a dinghy ride to the mainland of Panama. The mainland of Panama is a mountainous rain forest. We glided along in the dinghy up the Mono River. The Kuna Indians live on islands near the mainland. They do not live on the mainland but they do have small gardens there. The Kuna gardens blended into the rain forest so that I had a hard time determining what was a garden and what was the forest. White herons fished along the riverbank while colorful birds called and flew overhead. Fish were easy to spot in the clear water. When the depth got very shallow we got out and pulled the dinghy along. Colleen and I enjoyed a swim and a ride through the rapidly moving current to a small pool. We laughed and all had lots of fun on this trip. To watch a short video of this trip:
