UNDERWATER STRIKE (GBL): Strike Briefing
ORBITAL PLATFORM (GBL):
Try enhanced imaging, set nav alpha, IGNORE the turrets, and start jumping up and forward towards the hole. Getting in is the hardest part. After you make it in the mission is easy. The twin AC/20's will shred the 'mechs in the bay. The AC/5 will have ammo left to take out the regulator. Set the last nav point BEFORE you blow the regulator but do not target it. Just point and shoot. You then have to run like hell for the hole, JJ sideways, and drop. The second you clear the hole, jet forward. You do not have to land to finish. In fact the first time I completed the mission, I got wasted. No blood name, but I still made it. To complete the mission and not die, you need to rotate your 'mech in the hole and jet backwards only leaving your frontal armor exposed. I have done it many times on hard just as I have described it (and lived).
GOLDEN SPADE (MW2):
Choose V-Formation in the 'mech lab. Take two points of Warhawks
or Marauders with you When you power up, target the first Warhawk
and send a message to all points to engage this target. Now configure your
firing chains and engage the first Warhawk using your Starmates for cover.
After killing the first Warhawk target the second, command all points to
attack and join in the fight. After killing the second Warhawk you should
go for the turrets at the roadblock and the roadblock. Then target the
third Warhawk and lead your points around any obstacles until you have
a clear line of sight (L.O.S.) and command all points to attack. Let THEM
wear the 'mech down. Only engage AFTER they have worn the third Warhawk
down. When the last Warhawk is destroyed walk up to the West side of the
force field and target the Palace Complex. Zoom in and target under reticule.
You can sometimes ID the Complex this way and save yourself a great deal
of trouble after you blow the shield generator. Now go around and blow
up all of the buildings around the Complex and the six statues at the gate
for your targets of opportunity. Now go over to the generator. As you approach
a Timber Wolf will power up and attack. Command all points to engage and
go and blow the generator. After blowing the generator attack the Timber
Wolf. After it is destroyed select individual targets for your Starmates
and go to the Palace Complex. If you were not able to ID it before do so
now. Then engage the last 'mechs and fire off shots at the Complex at the
same time. I have done this mission many times on hard using this battle
plan. Try using the Warhawk Point Beta configuration from the file you
can get at the bottom of the page .It is a Warhawk with 2 ER Laser (Medium)
3 ER PPC Ultra AC/20 (10T/50) Ultra AC/2 (1T/45) 255XL (32.4/54 kph) 14(18)
heat sinks and it has full load of armor.Use the long range firing capabilities
of the 'mech. Try not to get to close to enemy units after the second Warhawk.
That is the 'mech I use.
Note: At close range at the beginning of the mission use up your
auto cannons first. If you do not and you "run hot", or take enough damage,
you will get ammo explosions and loose the weapons.
IRON PISTON (MW2): Use a Dire Wolf. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that when you approach an enemy unit within 300 m it will activate and attack. Start out from the bay and attack the Firemoth. Two SSRM6 racks will put it out of it's misery. Then play cat and mouse with the Battlemaster. It is NOT an easy target. If you take too much damage here you will not be able to finish the mission. Now start going clockwise from the bay around the city. Engage each unit ONE AT A TIME. Remember the 300 m rule. I have done this mission in smaller 'mechs but the DW gives a very wide margin for error.
